O11 or ODC: which OutSystems platform
OutSystems 11 and OutSystems Developer Cloud serve different situations.
OutSystems 11 (O11) is the long-established platform. OutSystems Developer Cloud (ODC) is the newer, cloud-native generation delivered as a managed service.
Detailed stack comparison table
| Topic | O11 | ODC |
|---|---|---|
| Maturity | Long-established, with many production estates. | Newer generation, built for cloud-native delivery. |
| Hosting | Can be hosted in the cloud or on infrastructure you manage. | Delivered as a managed cloud service. |
| Architecture | Applications are organised in modules within environments. | Container-based, with applications and libraries deployed independently. |
| Existing estates | The natural home for existing O11 applications. | Moving from O11 is a planned re-platforming, application by application. |
| New projects | Sensible where self-managed hosting or an existing O11 estate matters. | Often the starting point for a new cloud-based build. |
Choose O11 when
- You already run an O11 estate.
- Your hosting must be self-managed.
- A migration is not on the roadmap yet.
Choose ODC when
- You are starting a new application.
- You want a managed cloud service.
- You want to deploy parts of an application independently.

How we decide
We look at what you already run, where your data must live and how you want to operate it. If you have O11 applications today, we can map which ones should stay, which should move and in what order.
